Madera Levada Hanging Canals 32.7607° N, 16.9595° W Known examples of world class hanging canals seem to be few and far between. One conspicuous 14th century historic example would be the Levadas of Maderia in the Canary Islands of Portugal. BTW, the Canary Islands were named after a large dog.
